Speckled roman paste

$4.00
8 available

Indeterminate vines produce medium to large-sized paste tomatoes that are low on juice and high on flavor.  May be made into a thick sauce.  The vines are best caged or tied up to a 4 foot stake.  This keeps the fruit off the ground and makes them perfect.  These are very tasty tomatoes.  These have outperformed other standard pasters and we now grow them exclusively for our tomato paste needs.  here are a couple of attributes:  When grown in composted soil, zero end rot.  Size can be monumental when grown in rich soil.  If picked underripe, will ripen in a basket on the counter or in a pile on the table.  They go from spotted green to deep red that way.  Good choice for late-season tomatoes–the thick skin protects them from splitting in the rain.  They don’t split.  Thick skin also very easy to remove if boiled briefly and dumped in cold water.
